Första blockaden av gruvmaskinerna 1 juli 2013
För exakt 10 år sedan idag satte sig några aktivister på en gruvmaskin i Gállok utanför Jokkmokk. En redan långtgående kamp tog nu mer fysisk form och under sommaren följde en hård kamp emot provsprängningarna. Gállok lever än och motståndet växer fortfarande! Det vill vi fira genom att nu släppa boken ”No mine in Gállok: Ecocide and colonialism in Swedish-occupied Sápmi” för gratis nedladdning. Sprid kors och tvärs hur ni vill!
Då den första upplagan av boken tog slut innan vi ens hann lägga ut den till försäljning online har vi nu beställt 500 nya exemplar som kommer vara tillgängliga om ungefär en månad. För den som vill paxa ett ex så går det bra att skriva till oss på kolonierna@riseup.net.

Exactly 10 years ago today, some activists sat on a mining machine in Gállok outside Jokkmokk. An already long-going struggle now took a more physical form, and during the summer a fierce struggle against the test explosions followed. Gállok is still alive and the resistance is still growing! We want to celebrate that by now releasing the book ”No mine in Gállok: Ecocide and colonialism in Swedish-occupied Sápmi” available as a free download. Spread as much as you like!
As the first edition of the book sold out before we could even put it up for sale online, we have now ordered 500 new copies which will be available in about a month. For those who want to get a copy, you can to write to us at kolonierna@riseup.net.

Vi hade uppenbarligen underskattat vilket sug det finns efter att läsa och lära sig mer om det här ämnet. Rekommenderat pris: 100-200 kr. Allt överskott går till Kolonierna (läger, aktioner, böter, informationsspridning osv). Det går såklart pruta om du inte har så mycket pengar och ändå vill ha en bok.
Turnén va otroligt inspirerande och det har funnits ett stort intresse. På de flesta av ställena har det varit fullsatt, ibland mer än fullsatt. Det har blivit långa intressanta samtal och kontakter har knytits. Vi avslutade turnén i Kiel med en demonstration i hamnen mot SCA (som har en terminal där).

Tour updates, and the book is almost sold out
Before we even had time to announce that the books is out for sale it is now almost sold out! But we will print more. We obviously had underestimated the cravings people have to read and learn about this subject. For those who didnt manage to get a hold of a copy please write to us to kolonierna@riseup.net to order one.
Recommended price 10-20 euros. All the surplus goes to Kolonierna (camps, bosupport actions, fines, information spreading etc). Of course it is possible to haggle if you dont have so much money and still want the books.
The tour was very inspiring and there have been a huge interest. On most places the room has been totally full of people, sometimes more than full. We have had many long and interesting conversations and contacts have been tied. We ended the tour in Kiel with a demonstration in the harbour against SCA (that has a terminal there).
Sommaren 2021 anordnades ett läger i Gállok som blev en stor inspirationskälla och kopplade samman människor från olika delar av Europa. Detta har nu mynnat ut i nya samarbeten och nätverk.
I Tyskland har ett nätverk för solidaritet med kamper i Sápmi startats. Detta initiativ har nu lett till anordnandet av ”Decolonizing Sápmi Tour” där några som är aktiva i Kolonierna tillsammans med renskötaren och aktivisten Henrik Andersson på turné i Tyskland och Nederländerna nu i maj. De kommer då att prata om kolonialism, ekocid och motstånd i svensk-occuperade Sápmi. Även May-Britt Öhman kommer att delta via länk på några av tillfällena. Mer information hittar du på:
The summer of 2021 there was a camp in Gállok that became a huge source of inspiration and connected people from different parts of Europe. This has now turned into new cooperations and networks.
In Germany a network for solidarity with struggles in Sápmi has been formed. This initiative has now lead to the organization of the ”Decolonizing Sápmi Info Tour” where some active in Kolonierna together with the reindeer herder and activist Henrik Andersson are going to tour through Germany and Netherlands now in may. They will then talk about colonialism, ecocide and the resistance against it in Swedish-occupied Sápmi. Also May-Britt Öhman will join online for some of the occasions. You can find more info on:

Ny bok om ekocid och kolonialism släpps i maj
Under lägret i Gállok 2021 spelad vi också in samtliga presentationer. Det materialet tillsammans med andra texter och intervjuer vi gjorde, skrev och samlade in i efterhand har nu blivit till en över hundra sidor lång tidning med fokus på Gállok som en utgångspunkt för ett mycket bredare perspektiv som berör kolonialism och ekocid i svensk-ockuperade Sápmi i allmänhet. Tidningen (eller kanske snarare boken) är på engelska och kommer att publiceras i mitten av maj och därmed spridas under turnén och efter. Mer information om det kommer senare. New book on ecocide and colonialism released this May
During the resistance in Gállok there were numerous speakers and presentations. We compiled these talks as well as interviews with Sámi and other activists into a more than 100 page book that uses the fight in Gállok as a launching point to explore a much deeper interrogation of colonialism and ecocide in swedish-occupied Sápmi.
The book is in english and will be published in the middle of May 2023, and then distributed under the tour and after. More information on this later. Above is a photo of the front cover and here follows the back cover blurb.

”In March 2022 the Swedish government granted a British enterprise by the name of Beowulf Mining permission to pursue an open-cast mining operation in Gállok, in the heartland of Swedish-occupied Sápmi – an important development in a long and contested procedure towards a colonial land grab of historical significance. Ten years ago, in 2013, test drilling in Gállok spurred mounting resistance in the form of a road block and protest camp. On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of that event, and in the context of an increasing acuteness of the Gállok case, this booklet offers insight into the wider context of colonial exploitation and environmental devastation in the homeland of Northern Europe’s indigenous Sámi population within territory under Swedish dominion.
Through a series of articles and interviews, light is shed upon a range of interrelated topics covering the Gállok case, the history of the region, colonial and racist treatment of its Sámi inhabitants, the conversion of its boreal forests into coniferous cash crop plantations, the increasing burdens upon the reindeer herding culture, the questionable promises of a so-called Green Transition based on colonial land grabbing and environmental degradation, and issues related to the nature of capitalist civilization underlying all of the above. The booklet incorporates activist, local and Sámi voices as well as perspectives from scholars in the fields of technology, racism, water security, forest ecology and human ecology.
The Gállok case is about an open-cast iron mine in the heartland of Sámi reindeer herding. But in many ways, it is about much more than that.”
Nu är det på gång i Lill-Skarja i Arjeplogs kommun. Svea skog har sagt till Maskaure sameby att dom tänker avverka ca 39 hektar gammal fin skog med början nu på tisdag (23 april). Skogen är står helt oinventerad och har antagligen mycket höga naturvärden. Även Länsstyrelsen har bett Svea Skog att vänta, men det verkar som att dom bara tänker köra på ändå. Dom flesta miljöorganisationer har tagit ställning emot avverkningen. Det här är helt galet. Staten håller på att underminera vår framtid! Det kommer att bli protester.
Kom väldigt gärna dit och hjälp till att försöka stoppa Svea Skog i sina försök till avverkning. Ta ansvar för vad du själv gör och se till att ha varma kläder och hjärtat där det ska vara. Det är dags att visa att det inte är okej att göra så här!
